The first formal hearing of President Yoon Suk Yeol's impeachment trial is just a week away.

The National Assembly and President Yoon are engaged in a fierce off-the-shelf battle.

There is a reporter on the scene. Reporter Kwon Junsu!

Yes, it's the Constitutional Court.

First of all, we have an impeachment hearing scheduled in a week, right?

[Reporter]
That's right. President Yoon's formal hearing on the impeachment trial will be held a week later.

As of yesterday, the Constitutional Court asked the Ministry of National Defense's prosecution team, the National Police Agency's National Police Agency, and the special prosecution to send data on the martial law investigation records.

This is because the National Assembly accepted the request to send it to confirm the overall facts of the martial law incident at the last hearing preparation date.

From the date of pleading, the National Assembly and President Yoon will have a fierce battle.

Each applied witness will be questioned and the evidence submitted will be examined.

The Constitutional Court said President Yoon submitted an additional opinion yesterday, explaining that he is continuing to look into the matter at the review and the judges' meeting.

Ahead of the pleading date, the National Assembly and President Yoon are still engaged in an off-the-shelf battle today, right?

Yes, the two sides have been engaged in a tense battle over the exclusion of rebellion from the grounds for impeachment. In a statement today, President

Yoon argued that removing the crime of rebellion from the impeachment resolution does not simply exclude one of the reasons, but actually withdraws most of the 80% of the contents.

He also stressed that the reason for dismissal was how to conclude that the emergency martial law is a rebellion and judge whether the act of rebellion is unconstitutional, even though it was not judged as a crime of rebellion under the criminal law.

The National Assembly also held an open press conference for the first time today and said that the act of rebellion will be reorganized as a violation of the Constitution and will be judged by the court.

In other words, the crime of rebellion will not be withdrawn from the grounds for prosecution, but will be judged without exception.

It is like the process of transferring or expelling students who commit violence at school, he said, adding that the school violence committee does not even consider whether they are guilty of violence.

The Constitutional Court reiterated its position that it is entirely for the court to decide on the controversy.
