The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety announced today (7th) the results of re-evaluating the safety and functionality of nine functional ingredients used as raw materials for health functional foods such as Garcinia cambogia extract.
As a result of this evaluation, caution was added not to prepare or eat Garcinia cambogia extract with other body fat-reducing functional ingredients.
Youngji mushroom fruiting body extract, whose functionality has not been confirmed, has been excluded from functional raw materials, and lecithin's lead standard has been strengthened.
The daily intake range of soybean isoflavone, lecithin and hematococcus extracts has also been reset.
The re-evaluation was conducted on raw materials that reported abnormal cases such as vomiting, jaundice, and elevated liver levels last year.
