Bitcoin retreats to $96,000 mark on possible rate freeze

2025.01.08 AM 07:31
The price of Bitcoin, a cryptocurrency market leader, has fallen sharply.

On the virtual currency information platform CoinGecko, the price per unit of Bitcoin was $96,686.71, down 5.5% from 24 hours ago.

Bitcoin, which had been below the $100,000 mark since December 19 last year, was strong the day before as expectations resurfaced ahead of Trump's inauguration, but returned all the gains in a day.

At the same time, Ethereum was trading at $3,399.85, down 7.8% from the previous day, with Ripple down 5.6%, Solana down 6.6% and Dogecoin down 9.6%.

As all U.S. economic indicators are strong, the Federal Reserve's increased likelihood of a rate freeze is seen as a negative factor for the risky virtual currency market.
