Amid a cold wave warning in Gyeonggi Province and inland Gangwon Province, a severe cold spell of around minus 10 degrees Celsius continued this morning, mainly in the central interior.

By region, it recorded minus 18.3 degrees Celsius on Seoraksan Mountain, minus 15.3 degrees Celsius in Cheorwon, minus 13.4 degrees Celsius in Paju, minus 11.5 degrees Celsius in Jecheon, and minus 4.9 degrees Celsius in Seoul, and the cold wind was strong.

The Korea Meteorological Administration said that the continental high pressure, which developed strongly over the northern part of the Korean Peninsula, has expanded and a strong chill of minus 40 degrees Celsius is moving south, and that the wind chill will remain around minus 5 degrees Celsius in inland areas such as the metropolitan area even in the middle of the day.

In particular, the temperature in Seoul morning is expected to drop to minus 12 degrees Celsius tomorrow, and the wind chill will remain around minus 20 degrees Celsius, mainly in the metropolitan area.

In addition, special attention is needed as heavy snow of up to 30cm is expected to fall on the west coast of Chungcheongnam-do and North Jeolla Province, where heavy snow warnings have been issued with around 15cm.
