Amid the controversy after it was revealed that Kwon Sung-dong, the floor leader of the People's Power, recommended Kim Sang-wook, who has opposed the party's theory, to leave the party, Kim said he would remain in the party.
Rep. Kim told reporters after the National Assembly's press conference, "I have followed the party line except last December," stressing that we need to isolate the president from the failure to realize conservative values and start a new path of orthodox conservatism.
However, Senior Spokesman Shin Dong-wook criticized that Kim has never expressed his position at the general meeting of lawmakers, saying that the party's theory was not unilaterally decided by one or two leaders but was the result of the gentleman's agreement.
In an interview with YTN radio, Kim Yong-tae, an emergency committee member, also pointed out that the process of expressing his intention at the general meeting of lawmakers and narrowing differences among lawmakers is very important.
Kim Sang-hoon, chairman of the policy committee, explained that the recommendation for defection is intended to do the politics he wants after defection, rather than acting out of the people's power.
Cho Kyung-tae, on the other hand, criticized SBS radio, saying that the National Assembly Act and the Party Constitution stipulate that lawmakers should vote according to the Constitution and conscience, and that he thinks the suggestion to leave the party is a laughing matter for a passing cow.
