The government will invest 55.878 billion won in the R&D budget for nuclear safety this year, up 38.8% from last year.
The Nuclear Safety Commission held the 206th Nuclear Safety Commission today and announced that it has decided on a nuclear safety research and development project plan for 2025.
This year, a total of 9 nuclear safety research and development projects will support 7 continuous projects and 2 new projects.
In particular, it plans to invest 3.52 billion won in the development of safety regulation verification technology to respond to the demand for regulation of small module reactors, SMR construction and operation, and 47.4 billion won by 2032.
In addition, it added that it will invest 48.249 billion won this year in seven R&D projects to secure safety regulatory technologies in nuclear power, radiation, and nuclear non-proliferation and nuclear security.
