In a French provincial city, a public poster depicting North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Iran's supreme leader Khamenei as "garbage" has sparked controversy.
The advertisement poster attached to the city bus by the city of Vezier in southern France has the faces of leaders of North Korea, Russia and Iran arranged side by side, and the words "Don't forget to separate garbage" are written at the top.
On the 4th, the city of Vezier posted a picture of the bus with the poster on its Facebook account and promoted, "Don't forget to recycle your trash to start the year in a good mood."
After a series of critical comments and a strong condemnation of Iran, the city of Vezier removed all the posters.
Majid Nili, director of the Western Europe bureau of Iran's foreign ministry, called it an affront to his country's sacred values and character and urged the French government to "take appropriate measures to prevent such provocative actions from being repeated."
Mayor Robert Menar Vezier said he decided to remove the poster as a precaution and did not want to pose any danger to citizens, including bus drivers.
