2025.01.10 AM 04:32
Former President Jimmy Carter, the 39th president of the United States, was observed at the National Cathedral in Washington, D.C.

The funeral was attended by all five surviving former and current presidents, from President Joe Biden to Trump, Obama, Clinton and Bush, to pay tribute to the deceased.

Mr. Biden, who first supported Mr. Carter's presidential bid in 1976, said in his eulogy that we have an obligation to reject hate and confront abuse of power, the greatest sin.

He also stressed that his friendship with Carter made him believe that good personality is more important than title or power.

The son of former President Gerald Ford, who became a close friend of Carter's presidential rival, read out a eulogy left by his father during his lifetime and said he was looking forward to the reunion.

This is the first time that Trump has met with the "President's Club," an unofficial gathering of former and current presidents, since the presidential election in November last year, and has been seen sitting next to former President Obama and talking several times.

After the director-general, Carter was transported back to his hometown of Plains, Georgia, on a presidential plane and will be buried in the family cemetery in front of his home after a private service at a church where Carter served as a Sunday school teacher.
