Police have launched an investigation (internal investigation) before the charges are filed in connection with allegations that Choi Min-hwan of FT Island entered a prostitution business.
The Gangnam Police Station in Seoul said today (25th) that it is investigating Choi and mediator A on charges such as the Sex Trafficking Punishment Act. The move comes after a netizen received a complaint through the National Newspaper.
The pre-booking investigation refers to the stage of conducting an internal investigation before a formal investigation. Usually, civil complaints filed with the National Newspaper are decided whether to change the official investigation based on the investigation before the charges are filed.
Earlier in the day, a civil petitioner filed an application through the National Newspaper, saying, "We strongly urge Choi and his intermediary to thoroughly investigate the alleged violations of the Sex Trade Punishment Act and to be severely punished if they are found to have committed crimes."
Earlier, Choi's ex-wife, Yul-hee, a former La Boom, raised suspicions of Choi's prostitution through a YouTube video. Yul-hee said in a video, "I was drinking at home, and my mother was washing the dishes and my sister and my wife were singing, and I put money in my heart to see if I felt good," and added, "I wouldn't have gone to a business at that age." It turned out to be a habit," he claimed.
Also released a transcript of Choi's phone call with someone. The transcript contained words that seemed to mean Choi's entry into a prostitution business, such as "Do you have a wife?"
When this was known, a netizen filed a complaint with the police against Choi and his intermediary A on charges of violating the Special Act on Prostitution through the National Newspaper. The Internet user claimed, "The Gangnam Police Station in Seoul strongly urges Choi Min-hwan and his intermediary A to thoroughly investigate the alleged violations of the Sex Trade Punishment Act and to be severely punished if criminal charges are revealed."
