A national university professor who received bribes from a specific company and gave the highest score in a bid for business services ordered by the Korea Land and Housing Corporation and LH was sentenced to prison in the first trial.
The Seoul Central District Court today (25th) sentenced Professor Kim, who was arrested and charged with bribery under the Specific Crime Aggravated Punishment Act, to six years in prison and a fine of 120 million won.
He also ordered an additional 80 million won in back money that Professor Kim received.
The court explained that Professor Kim committed the crime by exploiting his reputation and influence, even though he was in a social position to set an example as a professor at a national university.
He also judged that the responsibility could never be seen as light and that corresponding severe punishment was inevitable.

Kim is accused of receiving KRW 80 million in cash along with a request from a specific company after being selected as a judge for the construction project management service bid ordered by LH in March 2022.
