The government says it will make every diplomatic effort to continue close cooperation with the new administration of the United States over the start of the U.S. presidential election.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Lee Jae-woong said in a regular briefing that the U.S. presidential election trend has been closely watched under close cooperation between related departments, local diplomatic missions, and academic and business circles.
He also emphasized that he has been actively using high-level visits to Korea and the U.S. to contact the leaders of both camps in all directions, and that he has been closely preparing until after the U.S. presidential election.
He explained that he was able to confirm that support in the U.S. for the Korea-U.S. alliance and cooperation between South Korea and the U.S. is bipartisan beyond the presidential candidate camp.
