Trump's transition team writes 'killing ministry' for Afghan troop withdrawal

U.S. President-elect Donald Trump has set out to write a killing squad for those involved in the 2021 Afghanistan withdrawal operation that ended in a "catastrophic disaster."

NBC reported on the 17th local time that Trump's transition team is compiling a list of former and current senior U.S. military officials involved in the Afghanistan withdrawal operation.

Sources said the transition team is also considering prosecuting current and former military officials on the list in military court.

In particular, executives who participated in important decision-making processes, such as military generals, may be charged with up to "rebel".

It is unclear whether the Afghan withdrawal will be a "crime of treason" because it was conducted under the direction of President Joe Biden, the commander-in-chief.

However, the source explains that there is also an intention to apply the maximum charges at the time and use them as a kind of "main example."

For now, the transition team is reportedly planning to form a special committee on the withdrawal of Afghanistan after the inauguration of the second Trump administration to launch an investigation into the situation at the time.

President Biden decided to withdraw troops from Afghanistan in 2021, his first year in office, but the lack of preparation has caused huge disruption in the process.

In particular, the suicide bombing at Kabul airport killed 13 U.S. soldiers, causing criticism in the U.S.

Trump also criticized the Afghanistan withdrawal operation during the campaign, calling it "the most shameful moment in U.S. history."

Defense Secretary-designate Pete Hegseth also called the Afghan withdrawal operation a "humiliation" in his book and called for "a mass firing of those involved."

However, some argue that Trump cannot escape responsibility for Afghanistan's withdrawal.

Trump agreed with the Taliban in February 2020 when he was in office to withdraw U.S. troops from Afghanistan by May 1, 2021.

President Biden, who later took office, complained that the U.S. government's range of actions had narrowed because then-President-elect Trump agreed to withdraw troops from the Taliban without a proper action plan.

In fact, in a post-review report on the Afghan withdrawal process submitted to Congress last year, the White House said, "President Biden's choice was severely restricted because of the situation created by the former president. However, President Biden led a careful and comprehensive decision-making process in line with field advice," he claimed.

The Trump administration is responsible for the chaos that occurred during the U.S. withdrawal process.
