Former lawmaker Park Soon-ja, who is suspected of receiving money and valuables in exchange for the city council's nomination, was sentenced to prison in an appeals court and arrested in court.

The Suwon High Court today (27th) rejected the appeal of former lawmaker Park, who was indicted on charges of violating the Public Official Election Act, and maintained the original trial, which sentenced him to two and a half years in prison and a fine of 30 million won.

The court said the lower court was justified in judging that "Former lawmaker Park demanded money and valuables even though he was in a position of responsibility, and the crime was not light."

Former lawmaker Park was put on trial in June 2022 on charges of receiving or promising to receive tens of millions of won from four people, including Ansan City Council member, a member of the People's Power, in exchange for the city council's nomination.
