It has been argued that North Korean troops sent to Russia have not actually been deployed to combat Ukraine.
The U.S. weekly Newsweek reported on the 28th local time that the Russian Telegram channel Romanov Light posted a video containing the claim that the North Korean military was not actually deployed to combat.
According to reports, the channel, run by a Russian military blogger, visited the Kursk front line the day before and said, "Everyone was talking about the North Korean army there and witnessed the North Korean army firsthand."
As for the North Korean troops seen in the Kursk region, he described them as highly trained and capable of handling any weapons, but insisted they were not directly deployed to combat.
"All the talk of contact with the North Korean military is a ridiculous claim, and although the North Korean military is in Kursk, it is not directly involved in the battle," he stressed.
Newsweek previously explained that when the news of the dispatch of North Korean troops first broke, it was questioned whether they would be able to achieve results from the dispatch as they had no practical experience and did not speak Russian well.
However, Ukraine has repeatedly stated that more than 11,000 North Korean troops are deployed in Kursk and are fighting.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy also said some of the North Korean troops deployed in Kursk had been put into battle and there were also casualties.
