A constitutional petition has been filed to determine whether Yoon Suk Yeol's declaration of emergency martial law was unconstitutional.
The Lawyers for a Democratic Society filed a petition with the Constitutional Court today (4th) for President Yoon's act of declaring emergency martial law.
In the petition for a constitutional appeal, Minbyun said that President Yoon's declaration of emergency martial law and follow-up measures violate basic rights such as freedom of assembly and association, freedom of speech, and freedom of expression, and that it is unconstitutional.
In addition, it has applied for a provisional injunction to suspend follow-up measures such as emergency martial law and proclamation until the judgment of the constitutional appeal case is announced, but no separate judgment is expected due to the lifting of martial law.
Earlier, President Yoon Suk Yeol declared an emergency martial law at 10:25 p.m. last night (3rd), but lifted it when a request for lifting martial law was passed at the plenary session of the National Assembly with all 190 lawmakers in favor.
