Israeli forces struck a school in northern Gaza, killing at least seven people, including children, foreign media said.
According to the Times of Israel, the Israeli military announced in a statement that it had made precision strikes on terrorists who were hiding in Gaza City's school building and plotting an Israeli attack.
Reuters, citing local medical staff, reported at least seven people, including women and babies, were killed and 12 injured in the attack.
The Israeli military has claimed that Palestinian militant Hamas uses Palestinians as human shields by hiding in civilian buildings such as schools and hospitals.
The Israeli military said it had taken steps to minimize civilian damage but did not reveal the extent of the casualties of the attack.
Al Jazeera reported that at least 50 people, including children, were killed in Israeli airstrikes in various parts of Gaza over the past 24 hours.
