Lawyers for former Defense Minister Kim Yong-hyun, a key figure in the martial law scandal, said they exercised their right to reject statements in the investigation, claiming the prosecution's illegal investigation.
After the prosecution's investigation into former Minister Kim this afternoon (14th), the lawyers told reporters, "The prosecution has been reduced to a political investigation tool of a specific party."
He then explained that one of the documents presented by the prosecutor during the investigation was produced by Rep. Park Sun-won of the Democratic Party of Korea.
The lawyers demanded the cancellation of former Minister Kim's arrest, saying they would sue Representative Park and prosecutors for abuse of authority and request disciplinary action.
The special investigation headquarters of the prosecution's emergency martial law plans to continue the investigation tomorrow (15th) after conducting the fifth suspect investigation against former Minister Kim for four hours from 2 p.m. today.
However, as former Minister Kim decided to refuse to make a statement at the investigation stage, the issue surrounding the allegation is expected to be addressed in earnest at the trial stage.
