"Hurry, hurry." The power of culture...Bloomberg sheds light on martial law in South Korea

Starting with President Yoon Suk Yeol's declaration of martial law and passing the impeachment bill at the National Assembly just 11 days later, foreign media said that the power of the "quickly fast" culture, which has been considered the background of Korea's rapid economic growth, has been revealed again.

Bloomberg News highlighted the swiftness of Korean politicians and citizens surrounding the martial law situation in an article titled "Korea's culture of 'Hurry Hurry' helped" regarding the impeachment motion on the 17th local time.

"Quickly, quickly, culture is a very powerful tool," one citizen who participated in the protest told Bloomberg. "It's a big part of what makes Korea able to do things that other countries can't do."

Bloomberg said it is true that there are side effects and negative implications for culture quickly, but added, "Quickly' is an emotion that implies patience and survival," adding, "After President Yoon's martial law announcement, Koreans knew what to do."
