First high-level face-to-face contact between Korea and Japan since the martial law incident...emphasis on cooperation

On the 3rd, Korea and Japan emphasized unwavering cooperation for the development of bilateral relations through high-level face-to-face contact for the first time since President Yoon Suk Yeol's declaration of emergency martial law.

First Vice Foreign Minister Kim Hong-kyun held a meeting with Japan's Vice Foreign Minister Masataka Okano in Tokyo, Japan, to discuss the overall relationship between the two countries and ways to cooperate with South Korea, the U.S. and Japan.

At the meeting, Vice Minister Kim emphasized that the Korean government has been running state affairs stably under the acting president system, and explained that all future processes will be based on the Constitution and laws within the framework of democratic procedures.

The two vice ministers agreed to maintain and develop bilateral relations in the future, and agreed to continue close exchanges and cooperation.
