South Korean university student dies of dengue infection during visit to Pakistan

A Korean university student died after contracting dengue, a tropical epidemic, while visiting Pakistan.According to the Korean Embassy in Pakistan on the 27th, Mr. A (23), who is attending a university in Seoul, died of dengue at a hospital in Lahore, eastern Pakistan, on the 22nd.


Mr. A entered Pakistan at the end of September.

An embassy official said he contacted his family after A's death and is supporting the bereaved family to transport the deceased's body to Korea.

Dengue fever is an infectious disease caused by virus penetration from mosquito bites.

Symptoms such as high fever, headache, and muscle pain appear after an incubation period of three to eight days, and usually improve in about a week, but in serious cases, it can progress to hemorrhagic fever or dengue shock syndrome.
