Ahead of the second trial of the lawsuit asking for the provision of picture ballots to guarantee the suffrage of the disabled, they submitted a "picture petition" drawn by the developmentally disabled to the court.

People First of Korea and other disabled groups held a press conference in front of the Seoul Central District Court yesterday (29th) and urged people with developmental disabilities to guarantee picture ballots so that they can exercise their right to vote equally as one of the people.

They submitted more than 1,000 petitions to the court, including 70 drawings drawn by people with developmental disabilities.

The picture petition had a face or symbol next to the name of the candidate or political party, and the words "I want to vote, too."

Groups filed a lawsuit against the state in January 2022, ahead of the 20th presidential election, to provide picture ballots and easy-to-understand election publications.

The first trial rejected the provision of picture ballots, saying that it goes against the current Public Official Election Act, which stipulates the methods and forms of public information and ballots.

The second trial will be held on the 6th of next month.
