Lightning strikes kill 14 people in Ugandan refugee camp

Fourteen people, including teenagers, were killed when lightning struck a refugee camp in northern Uganda, Africa.

On the evening of the 2nd, local time, 14 people were killed and 34 injured when a thunderbolt fell on a temporary church under worship at the Palabek refugee camp in Uganda.

Most of the refugees are known to be from the Nuer tribe, which is embroiled in the South Sudan conflict.

Uganda is a place where lightning strikes frequently occur, and in 2011, lightning strikes at elementary schools killed 18 people.

In addition, nine teenagers lost their lives in 2020 due to lightning strikes.
