Counting is now in full swing in the East, and in the West, including LA, voting is just being completed. Voting has also been closed in Hawaii and Alaska. Let's connect to the western United States and hear about the situation. Reporter Lee Jung-mi.

I'm in western California in the United States right now.

The western part of the country is competing in 2 states on the sun belt?

[Reporter]
Yes, it is. Of the seven contending states in the Rust and Sun Belt regions, the West includes Nevada and Arizona. Nevada has six electors and Arizona has 11, which will determine 17 votes out of 538 electors. In both regions, a large part of the vote is being counted. Harris and Trump, and Trump and Harris are competing.Nevada has a single-digit vote count around 2 p.m. The counting rate has gone back down to 0%, just a moment ago. Arizona is an area where the two candidates worked hard until the week before Election Day. We have now exceeded 50% of the vote count.

49.8 to 49.3, with Trump leading by a narrow margin of less than 1%p. The reason why the people who participated in this vote each supported the two candidates was the same as the values that the two candidates emphasized last. Today, on Election Day, Harris emphasized national unity and Trump emphasized the border issue until the very end. Here's why Arizona voters who voted today are supporting it.

[Christie Castorena / Harris supporter (Arizona): I think she's the best person for this job, and she's going to bring us all together and do what's right for everyone regardless of which side.]

[Edward Walp / Supporters of Trump (Arizona): They (Democrats) left the border wide open. It is destroying this country. We can't do that anymore. They're putting in illegal aliens. It's right to call them illegal aliens. I'm not an immigrant.

According to the results of the vote so far, Trump, who has even mentioned the possibility of dissatisfaction, is likely to win. However, in Arizona, it is a mountainous area famous for the Grand Canyon, so there are many mail-in votes, so it will take up to 13 days for the final results to be released. Arizona held a press conference and emphasized that it would carefully vote. I'll listen to it myself.

[Jack Skira / Deputy Maricopa County Manager, Arizona] My team will close the polls and diligently collect things. However, we will always prioritize safety and security over speed.]

It's an area that has the largest number of electors. California, where this reporter is, was outlined early, right?

[Reporter]
Yes, there was nothing unusual. In California, Harris is leading the way. U.S. media have already confirmed Harris' victory in California. The reason why California received attention is that 10% and 54 out of 538 electors are allocated. All of them were secured by Harris. It's an area where Democratic candidates have won eight recent presidential elections.

Harris' victory in California again this time makes the state the Democratic Party's ninth consecutive victory. In the West, Harris has 20 electors, including California, up the coast from Oregon to Washington. Harris leads all the way to Colorado, which has 10 people. Candidate Trump is strong in the northwest inland, including Utah. Four northwestern states have secured 17 seats. I prepared a graphic.

I don't think it's ready yet. In the United States as a whole, Trump has secured 246 electors and Harris 182. If we secure 270 people, we will win, so if Trump secures 24 more people, the victory will be definitive. I was also interested in the results of the House and Senate elections. In the California Senate race, where I am, the Democratic candidate is leading, but in the U.S. as a whole, there are many areas where Republican candidates are leading, increasing the possibility that Republicans will have a majority, from the House to the Senate. This is YTN Lee Jungmi from the U.S. state of western California.
