A daughter-in-law who tied her hands in anger while caring for her mother-in-law with dementia was fined.

The Incheon District Court fined A, a woman in her 40s, 6 million won in the first trial for violating the Elderly Welfare Act.

The court explained that the crime was not good because A assaulted the elderly victim in a way that tied him up, but it considered the fact that he/she had committed the crime accidentally while reflecting on the crime and taking care of the victim.

In May last year, A was charged with tying the two wrists of his mother-in-law in her 80s with tape at her home in Bupyeong-gu, Incheon.

A was found to have committed the crime because he was angry after taking care of his mother-in-law with dementia for two years.
