Recently, in Japan, there have been controversies over the use of voice actors' voices without permission in the process of producing videos with Generative AI.

Under Japan's current law, voice actors' voices are not recognized as works, and voice actors' organizations have called for countermeasures.

As voice reproduction through Generative AI becomes easier, concerns about the unauthorized use of voice actors are growing.

Popular Japanese voice actors, who have been the main target of unauthorized use, say that voice actors' voices are professional property.

Voice actor groups are raising problems with the use of Generative AI for dubbing foreign movies, and are demanding at least the permission of voice actors.

At the same time, he urged the government to come up with principles and frameworks for the use of Generative AI.

In January of this year alone, more than 500 videos were reportedly produced using the voice of a voice actor as a Generative AI without permission.

Famous Japanese voice actors began to speak out in earnest through official YouTube last month.

[Yuki Kaji / Voice actor on "Giant of Advance" : I think it's important to understand and let them know what's not possible and what's good]

However, some say that if Generative AI is an irreversible trend, it is important to create synergy.

[Mika Kana / Voice actor on "Anpanman" : If there's something we can do together, I think it'll be amazing]

Currently, the voice is not recognized as a work under current Japanese law.

Japanese voice actor organizations continue to consult with the Japanese Cultural Agency, but they have not been able to find a solution, which is deepening the concerns of voice actors.
