The Ministry of Public Administration and Security launched the first phase of the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters at 3 a.m. today and raised the level of heavy snow crisis warnings from "attention" to "caution."
The Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters asked each local government to focus on preventing damage such as traffic congestion on commuting roads, multiple crashes on icy roads, and pedestrian safety accidents to prevent heavy snow and low wind temperatures.
In addition, after snow removal on major roads, follow-up snow removal such as side roads, alleys, and sidewalks was carried out, and snow removal was requested around bus stops so that local residents could make good use of snow removal.
With a lot of snow across the country, sea routes and major national parks across the country were also controlled.
As of 6 a.m. today, 96 ships were closed from Mokpo, South Jeolla Province to Hongdo Island and from Pohang, North Gyeongsang Province to Ulleungdo.
In addition, 185 places in seven national parks, including Bukhansan Mountain, Taebaeksan Mountain, Seoraksan Mountain, and Deogyusan Mountain, are prohibited from entering.

Since 2 a.m. today, four roads have been closed: Inwangsan-ro, Bukaksan-ro, Samcheong-dong-gil, and Waryong Park-gil in Seoul.
The Seoul Metropolitan Government said it plans to decide when to release the snow based on the current trend of snow removal work.
Earlier, the city operated the first phase of snow removal emergency work from 6 p.m. yesterday (26th).
Due to heavy snow overnight, the snow removal emergency work was raised to the second stage from 7 a.m. today, and all-out response to snow removal with autonomous districts and related organizations was carried out.The city of
currently employs more than 9,600 people and 1,400 equipment to spray snow removal and push snow off the road.
Gyeonggi-do Province, which had heavy snow, has also been operating the first emergency stage of the Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters since 11 p.m. last night and is making all-out efforts to remove snow.
Gyeonggi-do Province said it is monitoring the current situation on its way to work, saying that there were temporary road controls or gridlock, such as the collapse of street trees due to heavy snow as of 7 a.m. today, but fortunately, there was no significant damage.
Gyeonggi Province is carrying out snow removal work by mobilizing 2,128 equipment and 3,184 personnel.
Since there is still snow on the road, it is better to use public transportation on your way to work and secure enough safety distance when driving.
