The Gyeonggi Office of Education said 1,285 kindergartens, elementary, middle and high schools in the province were closed as of 12 p.m. today (28th) due to heavy snow in the Gyeonggi area.
In addition, 256 kindergartens, elementary, middle, and high schools adjusted their school hours, and 119 schools adjusted their school hours.
A high school in Yongin also caused damage to facilities in 67 places, including a collapsed roof on the way to the cafeteria.
Earlier, the Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education urged schools at all levels to close down, saying they were concerned about safety accidents due to heavy snow and falling temperatures, and asked them to operate an emergency contact network to understand the safety situation.
Governor of Gyeonggi-do Province Kim Dong-yeon also requested the recommendation of closing elementary schools and kindergartens in the province.
