Ryu Hyuk, the inspector general of the Ministry of Justice, has expressed his resignation over President Yoon Suk Yeol's declaration of emergency martial law.The inspector of
reportedly submitted his resignation to the effect that he could not agree to martial law shortly after attending a meeting on martial law called by Justice Minister Park Sung-jae today (3rd).
He was also quoted as saying that he thought it was illegal to obey martial law-related instructions at a time when the National Assembly passed a resolution calling for the lifting of emergency martial law.The
type inspector retired from the prosecution in 2019 and was appointed to the Justice Department's inspector general in July 2020, and his term was until early July next year.
