U.S. National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan said he will continue to speak out to strengthen democracy in South Korea in the future in connection with the emergency situation in South Korea.
Sullivan, who spoke at the U.S. think tank Center for Strategic and International Studies and CSIS on the 4th local time, said when asked about the martial law situation in Korea, he evaluated that Korea's democratic process worked properly in the process of declaring and lifting emergency rules.
Sullivan also confirmed that he had not discussed martial law with the South Korean government in advance, and that he had learned of the announcement on TV, just like other countries in the world.
He added that the declaration of martial law in Korea caused deep concern, adding that what we want to see is that the country's democratic system works properly.
