Members of the Democratic Party of Korea of the Gyeonggi Provincial Assembly have proposed a resolution calling for the impeachment of President Yoon Suk Yeol.
In a resolution, the Democratic Party pointed out, "The declaration of a habitual emergency martial law is a clear unconstitutional and illegal act that does not even meet the martial law requirements set by the Constitution and laws," adding, "The illegal mobilization of the military and police to block the National Assembly constitutes a rebellion that thoroughly destroys democracy and constitutional order."
"If President Yoon, who caused a serious constitutional crisis, continues to remain in office, the Republic of Korea will be in even greater crisis," he said. "The National Assembly should pass the presidential impeachment bill as soon as possible for the stability of the Republic of Korea."
The Democratic Party has also been holding a relay emergency sit-in at a tent in Gwanggyo Central Park near the provincial council since the 9th to inform the residents of the legitimacy of the impeachment.
