The Gyeonggi provincial government said 19 cases of filth balloons sent by North Korea have caused 76.56 million won in damage in the Gyeonggi area since late May.

Cases of damage include damage to vehicles, damage to the roof of a house, damage to a vinyl house, factory fires, and physical injuries, and the province explained that it paid all the damages by the end of last month.

The provincial government set three areas, Paju-si, Yeoncheon-gun, and Gimpo-si, as dangerous zones on October 16 after a series of damage to residents due to North Korea's filth balloons against private organizations' distribution of leaflets to the North, and made it possible for more than 120 people, including Gyeonggi-do Special Judicial Police Corps, city and county officials, and police, to patrol every day and be dispatched 24 hours a day.

Before the dangerous zone was set up, more than 6,600 filth balloons were flown 28 times, but after the dangerous zone was set up, only about 90 were sprayed three times.

In addition, two leaflet distribution organizations were asked to investigate the police for violating the Aviation Safety Act, and both were found guilty last month, and the case was sent to the prosecution.
