German society was shocked by the car crash attack ahead of Christmas, saying the nightmare was recreated eight years ago.

Five people were injured when a truck running away from the police rushed to a shopping mall in the United States, while countries were on alert for year-end safety measures.

Flowers and candles filled the streets of the Christmas market, which should be crowded with crowds.

They pray for young victims, hold their faces, and burst into tears.

In the run-up to Christmas, German citizens recalled the Berlin nightmare of 12 people killed eight years ago in a devastating terrorist attack that killed more than 200 people.

[Betina, Local resident: (In the Christmas market) I'm afraid and afraid of what's going to happen to the kids again.]

Taleb, 50, who was arrested at the scene, is an anti-Muslim Saudi dissident who reportedly worked as a psychiatrist.

Social media revealed that Germany has criticized refugee policy, saying "Germany Islamizes Europe," along with a photo of a rifle.

Prior to the attack, the Saudi government warned German authorities four times but was found to have done nothing about Taleb.

In contrast to the wave of mourning in and out of Germany, far-right groups have staged rallies that rather stoke immigrant hatred.

Controversy over Germany's immigration policy is also expected to grow ahead of the general election early next year, foreign media said.President of the United States

Joe Biden has expressed his condolences for the victims, calling it a "mean and dark event."

While countries are on alert for year-end safety measures, a car crash occurred at a large shopping mall in Texas on a weekend afternoon.

The truck driver, who had been on the run for more than 30 kilometers due to drunk driving reports, rushed to the entrance of a crowded shopping mall ahead of Christmas and five people, including a child, were seriously injured.

[Brian Washko, local police official: I heard that a 6-year-old child and a 70-year-old are in serious condition. I'm not sure about the status of the other two.]

The truck driver, who was trying to run away, was shot and killed at the scene by police, and local authorities are investigating the details of the crime.
