Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon, who has been sending political messages every day, met with the U.S. ambassador to Korea this time.
Mayor Oh presented Ambassador Goldberg with an honorary citizenship of Seoul, reaffirming the solidity of the Korea-U.S. alliance.
[Oh Se-hoon / Mayor of Seoul: Thanks to you for your deep trust in Korean democracy during a difficult time, I think that Korea was able to find stability in the international community very quickly. Thank you especially.]
[Philip Goldberg / U.S. Ambassador to Korea] The only thing I can be sure of is the ironclad Korea-U.S. alliance. We firmly believe in Korea's democracy and constitutional system.
Mayor Oh pointed out that "it is not right" for President Yoon's martial law investigation and avoidance of impeachment trial,
To stand up to Lee Jae-myung's delayed trial or the opposition's frame of special prosecution, the investigation must be quickly responded to,
Acting President Han Deok-soo called for the appointment of a constitutional judge recommended by the National Assembly.
Mayor Oh left open the possibility of running for office by saying that he would think deeply considering that the country is in a crisis, although resigning as mayor is burdensome in the early presidential election.
Another Jamryong, Daegu Mayor Hong Joon Pyo hinted at running for office, citing the spirit of the times of national unity and an advanced Republic of Korea.
He stressed that conservative right-wing supporters should not be scattered, saying that an early presidential election is better than two years later.
[Hong Joon Pyo / Daegu Mayor: Things change right away (in the early presidential election). The other person is a criminal and a rioter.... We are preparing for early presidential elections, normal presidential elections, and short-term presidential elections.]
Mayor Hong also argued that he is the only one who can stand up to U.S. President-elect Trump, and that the Trump administration could be a golden opportunity to balance the nuclear weapons of South Korea and North Korea.
He is trying to win conservative votes by showing his side as a "fighter" to overcome the chaotic political situation.
