The Korea Professional Footballers Association has decided to request the introduction of early voting in the election of the president of the Korea Football Association.
The Korea Federation of Players will ask the Korea Football Association to introduce early voting for players who are unable to participate in voting due to off-season training or for electors who cannot participate in voting on election day.
Until now, the election for the president of the Korea Football Association has been conducted only through on-site voting, and the same is true for the 55th presidential election.
Lee Keun-ho, chairman of the Players' Association, emphasized, "Pre-voting is already a proven method in public office elections and is a realistic alternative to securing fairness and accessibility of voting at the same time."
He said, "Players will be able to exercise their precious votes in advance regardless of off-season training or schedule."
Currently, some candidates are also demanding the introduction of early voting.
However, the KFA's Election Commission has already announced a "no" policy.
It is based on the fact that early voting makes it difficult to guarantee secret voting, and higher-level international organizations such as the International Football Federation and Asian Football Federation also hold elections offline in-person.
The election, which will be held on the 8th of next month, will be a three-way race between current chairman Chung Mong-gyu, former national team coach Huh Jung-moo, and visiting professor Shinmun-seon Myung-ji.
