The Coast Guard, which is searching for a missing person in the West Sea that capsized off the coast of Seosan, South Chungcheong Province, pulled up a sunken cargo crane while on board.
Taean Coast Guard explained that it deployed a maritime crane to the waters near Gopado Island, where the accident occurred, at around 12:20 p.m. today (4th) and pulled the cargo crane over the barge in about three hours.
However, the lifting of the dump truck, which is estimated to have missing people in their 50s, will be attempted again tomorrow (5th) due to the risk of secondary accidents caused by strong currents.
In addition, as soon as the dump truck is lifted, we plan to start lifting the West Sea.
The West Sea capsized around 6:30 p.m. on December 30 last year while traveling from Seosan Udo to Gudo Port with seven crew members, dump trucks, and cargo cranes. Two people were rescued immediately after the
accident, but four people, including the captain, were killed and a dump truck driver is also missing.
