The commander of the Army's 12th Division boot camp and the lieutenant commander were sentenced to five and three years in prison, respectively, for killing the trainee by ordering military training in violation of the regulations.

The Chuncheon District Court sentenced Captain Kang, a company commander, and Lieutenant Nam, a lieutenant commander, to five years and three years in prison, respectively, for abuse and abuse of authority.

The court explained that it is a harsh act that goes beyond the legitimate training instructed by company commander and vice lieutenant commander to the trainees, and that the intentionality of abuse is also recognized.

He then found the accused guilty, saying that abnormal military training had reduced public trust in the military, and that there was a causal relationship between the defendants' actions and their deaths.

On May 23 last year, they were put on trial on charges of conducting military training for six trainees at the Inje Army 12th Division boot camp in Gangwon-do, and killing a trainee identified by his surname Park who fainted and fell in the process by failing to take appropriate measures.

Earlier, the prosecution decided that the victim died due to illegal military training and charged him with abuse, not manslaughter, and demanded 10 years in prison for the company commander and 7 years for the vice lieutenant commander.
