Archbishop Chung Soon-taek, the head of the Catholic Archdiocese of Seoul, emphasized the need to find political stability as soon as possible in accordance with democratic constitutional procedures, regardless of ruling and opposition parties.
Archbishop Chung made the remarks while delivering a New Year's Mass for the Catholic Church at the National Assembly's main building today.
He then emphasized that both the ruling and opposition parties would be able to achieve greater political results and support if they put their minds together for the common good at the national level, not for short-term party politics.
He also proposed using 0.1 percent of the government's defense budget as an international fund for world peace, adding that it could give a high hope for the poor and powerless, including citizens suffering from the devastation of the war, to rise anew.
