Trudeau "Canada Is 51st U.S. State? Not Likely"
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, who is about to resign, dismissed pressure from Trump, who said he could make Canada the 51st U.S. state, saying "there is not an slightest chance that Canada will be part of the United States."

"Workers and communities in both countries benefit from each other as their largest trading partner and security partner," Trudeau said in a post on X.

Trump claimed at a news conference in Mar-a-Lago, Florida, where his mansion is located, that "economic coercion" could allow Canada to be incorporated into the United States.

In the meantime, Canadian Foreign Minister Melanie Jolie also criticized Trump's remarks, saying, "I don't understand what makes Canada a strong country," and "I won't give in to the threat."

"Canada will never be the 51st state," said Pierre Foylievre, the leader of Canada's Conservative Party, which is expected to win the next general election, and stressed that "we are a great independent country."
