A Chinese actor was rescued in Myanmar three days after being kidnapped by an online criminal gang in Thailand.

Wang Xing, a 31-year-old Chinese actor who reportedly disappeared from the Thai-Myanmar border on the 4th, was found by Myanmar authorities and returned to Thailand on the 7th local time.

Thai police said Wang Xing appeared to be a victim of human trafficking, and said he had been kidnapped by a Chinese criminal gang.

Wang Xing left Shanghai, China, for a drama audition, arrived in Thailand and was taken to Miyawadi, Myanmar.

Miyawadi is known for being a base for criminal organizations that frequently commit online scams, and is known to imprison personnel in call centers and engage them in crimes.

Police explained on social media that a Chinese man approached Wang Xing and made him come to Thailand, saying he runs a famous Thai entertainment company.

Wang Xing found out he had been tricked on his way to Myanmar, but failed to resist, and was trained in fraud targeting Chinese people, police said.Wang Xing, who works under the name of

Sing Xing Xing, has appeared in Chinese dramas such as 'Hoyuan Hong Lang Wol Hong Pyeon' and 'The Magical Examination'.

In recent years, Chinese online criminal organizations have been active in Southeast Asian countries, including the Golden Triangle, which borders Myanmar, Laos, and Thailand, resulting in a surge in employment fraud and human trafficking.
