2025.01.11 AM 12:08
The Korea Football Association's Election Management Committee decided to resign and canceled the presidential election, which was scheduled to be held on the 23rd.

The election management committee of the Korea Football Association announced, "We judged that it was impossible to fulfill our responsibilities normally at a time when the candidates for the opposition camp pointed out unfairness one after another," adding, "All the members will resign."

Accordingly, it has announced that it will cancel all election schedules announced on the day before (the 9th), including the lottery on the 12th and the election on the 23rd.

Earlier in the day, a newspaper candidate held a news conference, saying the court could not leave the election to the Election Commission, which recognized procedural flaws and unfairness, and foreshadowed a hard-line response, including legal action.

Candidate Shin said that as the term of the "Jung Mong-gyu Executive Branch" ends on the 21st, there will be a two-day gap if the election is held on the 23rd, and argued that the presidential election should be prepared as soon as possible under the emergency committee system.

Candidate Heo Jung-moo also strongly criticized the election management committee as shameless nonsense caused by Chung Mong-gyu's arrogance, self-righteousness, and immorality, saying that the election management committee does not have the authority to decide the election day.Candidate

he stressed that the current election management committee cannot expect a fair election, and that it should be entrusted to a third party, the Central Election Commission.

In response, the association's election management committee explained the background of the resignation, saying, "We tried to collect opinions from the candidate through an announcement by the press corps, but we are deeply sorry for the continued malicious slander."

The steering committee went on to emphasize that all procedures were carried out fairly and objectively and that the court did not take issue with the selection and composition of the committee itself.

The eight-member Election Commission has been involved in a "fairness controversy," including three lawyers specializing in construction and real estate, and all resigned within four hours after a news conference in which a newspaper candidate called for them to "reconstruct their origins."
