'Pop Music Master' Quincy Jones Dies At 91

The Associated Press and other foreign media reported that Quincy Jones, a master of American pop music, died on the 3rd local time at the age of 91.

Jones's publicist, Arnold Robinson, reportedly said he died at his Los Angeles home on Thursday night as his family watched.

Jones is considered a versatile music producer, songwriter, and TV show producer representing the 20th century.

In particular, he produced Thriller and Bad, which are considered the masterpieces of Michael Jackson, the "King of Pop."

Born in Chicago in 1933, Jones joined the band of legendary musician Ray Charles in a Seattle club when he was 14 and began his full-fledged career as a musician, playing the trumpet.

Since the 1950s, he has built a reputation by working on albums by famous jazz artists such as Clifford Brown and Duke Ellington, and has been active in musicals, film music, and TV program production as well as producers.

Jones has been nominated for a Grammy 80 times, the third-most after Beyoncé and Jay-Z, and 28 of them have been honored.
