At the last Paris Olympics, taekwondo showed that it is an open sport to all around the world, with more than 60 countries participating.

In the next Olympics, there may be another country that is trying to win a medal.

This is because a Korean Taekwondo teacher in this country is raising his student by sweating beads.

[Global Korean] introducing the diverse lives of Koreans around the world, this time we will meet Jung Jin-woo, a master who dreams of the Laos Taekwondo team advancing to the Olympics.

[Commentary]

[JinJinwoo / Laos National Taekwondo Coach: Hello. My name is Jung Woo, a government dispatched by Kukkiwon. I've been in Laos since 2009, and now I'm in charge of the Laos national taekwondo team.

Laos
, a country where the dream of overseas expansion has been reached in the mind of an elite athlete who entered Taekwondo at the hands of his mother because his body is weaker than his peers.
[Jin-woo / Laos national taekwondo coach: I think I've been a little weaker than others since I was young. I started Taekwondo at the local gym at the hands of my mother, and I was about 5 years old then. Since then, he has been an elite athlete, and after being discharged from the military athletic unit, or Sangmu, he went to his hometown of Jeju Island. While coaching the tour of Jeju Island, I thought, "Should I go abroad and fulfill my dreams?" In the meantime, I applied because there was an advertisement for recruiting teachers dispatched by the Kukkiwon government, and I happened to apply for Laos.

First impression of a somewhat difficult Taekwondo foundation
Three gold medals at the Southeast Asian Games won with
players crying and laughing

[Director: Laos Taekwondo]: It was night when we first arrived at Laos Airport. I thought I could see the lights at night and think it was okay, so I thought I could live my life, but when I looked at it the next morning, it was all in vain and the dust flew, and I remember being in a very difficult situation. The Laos economy and the Laos Taekwondo Federation are not all systematic, but it is a process of development and I am working hard. At that time (2009), Laos was hosting the Southeast Asian Games, or SEA Games, for the first time since its founding. For the first time, we trained together for about six months (with the players), and as well as I did, the players suffered a lot. [I remember crying a lot after winning three gold medals]

Taekwondo
devoted to repaying the teacher's kindness for taking care of me in my childhood, which was frequent.
The meal I took with my weak disciples as they saw me as a child

[Jin-woo / Laos National Taekwondo Head Coach: I was very weak and sick (in my childhood), but my high school teacher helped me a lot. I'm getting emotional even while talking, but I think that's the biggest turning point in my life because the teacher bought me medicine for breakfast and dinner and helped me a lot. I committed myself to working out while pledging to repay the teacher. Laos eats rice noodles a lot in the morning. As a result, it is difficult to eat because there are many players who have weak physical strength and secondly, they have a very difficult family situation. What I always tell the players is eating, that is, eating, is also a training exercise. I make sure to eat well and then exercise a lot. When I go into the training camp, I think I add a lot of my own money and feed others well, but I don't know what (the disciples) will think. That's how I train all the time. Apart from the competition and the poomsae, when training, when training, when resting, I rest.... When I train, I play a big role like a teacher or a coach, but other than sports, I always play a role like an uncle and a father.]

[Pilapong/Sienkuang Taekwondo Teacher: The teacher is scary, but he has a good heart. He coaches all the players with all his heart. Training with the teacher is difficult, but he teaches a lot through training. If we don't work hard during training, the teacher will scold us. Please treat me well after training.]

[Sonsai/Laos Lan Sang-gwon Club Coach: Master Jin is a Taekwondo expert and taught us many things, including the effects of using new and old technologies. I was able to win a gold medal in the SEA game under the guidance of Master Jin. I learned a lot from the teacher.]

Two goals I want to achieve: Laos national team to advance to the Olympics, establishing a Taekwondo department at Laos University

"We will happily and happily concentrate on distributing Taekwondo"

[Jin Jin-woo / Director of Laos National Taekwondo: I have no other dream in Laos. I have two goals, and the first is that Laotian Taekwondo has never competed in the Olympics yet. With the meaning of participating in the Olympics for the first time, my second dream is to open a Taekwondo department at Laos University, even though I am still working on it. I have been with Taekwondo for 16 short or long years in Laos, and I will continue to make efforts to distribute and guide Taekwondo happily and happily. Thank you.]
