Israel "Leaves the Palestinian Refugee Relief Organization from the United Nations Accord"

Israel informed the United Nations on the 4th local time that it was withdrawing from an agreement that would allow the U.N. Palestinian Refugee Agency (UNRWA) to work.

Israel's foreign ministry said in a statement that it had sent the letter to U.N. General Assembly President Philemon Yang on the orders of its foreign minister, Israel Katz.

"The terrorist group Hamas is deeply infiltrated by the refugee relief organization," Katz said. "The organization, which has a large number of employees and Hamas members who participated in the Oct. 7 massacre, is a problematic element in Gaza and cannot be a solution."

"The United Nations has done nothing to deal with a lot of evidence of Hamas members working there and abusing facilities," he said. "Israel will continue to allow humanitarian aid to Gaza in a way that does not harm the safety of its people."

On the 28th of last month, the Israeli parliament passed a bill banning the activities of refugee relief organizations in Israeli-occupied areas such as East Jerusalem.

The withdrawal notice comes 57 years after an agreement was signed in 1967 to allow refugee relief organizations to carry out relief operations against Palestinian refugees in Israeli-controlled areas.

Refugee Relief Organization is an international organization under the United Nations established in 1948 to support 700,000 Palestinian refugees during the first Middle East war.
