The National Assembly's Science, Technology, Information, Broadcasting and Communications Committee has decided to hold a confirmation hearing for KBS President Park Jang-beom over two days on the 18th and 19th.
This is the first time that the National Assembly will hold a two-day confirmation hearing for a candidate for KBS president.
The ruling party left without participating in the resolution of the confirmation hearing plan, protesting that it was inappropriate to hold a two-day hearing when the National Assembly had to deal with major bills such as the Basic Artificial Intelligence Act.
On the other hand, the opposition party argued that candidate Park's description of the bag of Kim Gun-hee's luxury bag receiving case as a "pouch" and a "small bag" shows that it is biased and needs more rigorous verification.
The opposition party also voted for 20 witnesses, including KBS Chairman Seo Ki-seok, incumbent KBS board members, presidential chief of staff Jeong Jin-seok, secretary Lee Ki-jung, and policy chief Sung Tae-yoon, saying they would go through the process of recommending Park.
