The Russian Senate (Federal Council) approved the ratification of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Treaty (North Korea-Russia Treaty), which includes mutual military support with North Korea on the 6th local time.

The Senate deliberated and unanimously approved the ratification of the North Korea-Russia treaty at the meeting.

The North Korea-Russia treaty was signed by President Putin and North Korean State Councilor Kim Jong-un in Pyongyang on June 19 and contains a clause that the other will provide military support if one of the two sides is at war due to an armed invasion.Russian President Vladimir Putin

submitted the ratification of the treaty to the House of Representatives (National Duma) on the 14th of last month, and the House of Representatives also unanimously approved the ratification of the treaty on the 24th of last month.

The treaty, which has been ratified by the Senate, will end the ratification process in Russia if President Putin signs it, and will take effect indefinitely if Russia and North Korea exchange ratifications thereafter.

Amid claims that North Korea has sent troops to Russia, which is at war with Ukraine, and that there have been actual fighting recently, Russia is speeding up its relationship with North Korea to the level of an alliance.
