The military has conducted live-fire drills in response to a series of ballistic missile provocations from North Korea, including intercontinental ballistic missiles, ICBMs and super-large multiple rocket launchers.

Following Cheongung-2, which defends missiles, it sent a strong warning to North Korea this time by launching the Kill Chain and Hyeonmu-2, a means of mass retaliation.

Reporter Kim Moon-kyung reports.

"3, 2,1 Launch"

The missile that left the launch tube roars into the sky.

This is a live-fire drill for Hyeonmu-2 surface-to-surface missiles developed by us, with a maximum range of 300 kilometers to 800 kilometers.

Some warheads contain hundreds of shells, which are known to have the power to devastate the size of 3-4 football fields with one shot.

The military said the Hyeonmu 2 missile, which was launched from Anheung, South Chungcheong Province, flew 200 kilometers and hit the maritime target accurately.

Prior to this, a missile interception drill was conducted using surface-to-air missiles Cheongung-2 and Patriot-3.

The missile, which left the launch pad, hit a virtual target in an instant in the air.

As North Korea carried out a series of provocations with super-large multiple rocket launchers claiming intercontinental ballistic missiles and tactical nuclear weapons, it sent a strong warning with the Kill Chain and the South Korean missile defense system.

In the midst of this, reinforcements from the land arrive one after another on the northwestern island by helicopter.

In case of emergency, the defense training was conducted with 6,000 Marines and army, navy, and air force troops to defend the northwestern islands such as Baengnyeong Island and Yeonpyeong Island.

About 10 ships and 30 aircraft were also mobilized for the training to land at sea, and a front-line surgical team led by Lee Kuk-jong, head of the Armed Forces Daejeon Hospital, also conducted emergency surgery and evacuation of the seriously injured.

[Lt. Col. Kim Yong-hwan, 62nd Battalion, Marine Corps: The Marine Corps will immediately, strongly, and until the end of any provocation by the enemy and will defend the northwestern islands.]

After the U.S. presidential election, the military says it maintains its ability and posture to overwhelmingly respond to any provocation, amid the possibility of North Korea's provocations taking advantage of the transition period.
