Lee Jae-myung of the Democratic Party, who was deprived of his right to vote in the first trial for violating the Public Official Election Act, will attend a rally to denounce the regime in downtown Seoul today as scheduled.

The Democratic Party of Korea is embarrassed by the unexpected ruling, but is struggling to maintain a single battalion, and Han Dong-hoon, the leader of the People's Power Party, criticized it as the worst reason for the aggravation of sentencing.

I'm connecting with the reporter. Reporter Na Hye-in, what does it mean to proceed with the schedule announced by representative Lee Jae-myung the day after the sentence?

When reporters asked Lee Jae-myung, who was leaving work yesterday, "The party is confused, how are you going to solve it?" Lee flatly said, "The party is not confused," but today's attendance at the rally seems to be in the same context.

The rally hosted by the Democratic Party in front of Gwanghwamun, Seoul in the afternoon is the third "National Action Day" to condemn the alleged manipulation of state affairs by President Yoon Suk Yeol and his wife and urge a special prosecutor.

Representative Lee is expected to present a message to party members and supporters at the meeting, asking them to stay with them, saying they will go unshakable.

Lee had a private dinner with some leaders last night to discuss future measures.

In a call with YTN, a key Democratic Party official said Lee did not change by denying what had already happened, but showed a calm attitude that the future was important.

However, the embarrassing atmosphere is clearly read within the Democratic Party.

There are many reactions that even if they were convicted, they expected a fine, and did not expect a suspended prison sentence.

If confirmed as it is, not only will Lee Jae-myung's individual election candidacy be restricted for 10 years, but the Democratic Party will also have to return 43.4 billion won in the last presidential election, which could shake the party's finances.

The Democratic Party's leadership seems to refrain from directly criticizing the judiciary, as the first trial of perjury teacher charges is also scheduled on the 25th.

However, a party official responded furiously, saying, "There are many people who think it is an excessive ruling that goes beyond common sense and imagination."

In the afternoon, the Democratic Party will hold an emergency joint meeting attended by its lawmakers and regional chairmen across the country to discuss future countermeasures.

The offensive targeting the suspicions of President Yoon and his wife and Myung Tae-kyun is likely to strengthen further in the future, and some predict that voices may spread to seek impeachment of the president or constitutional amendment to shorten his term of office.

What is the reaction of the people's power?

[Reporter]
The power of the people, who have been in a tight spot due to the opposition's attack on First Lady Kim Gun-hee, seems to be making a massive counterattack, believing that it has gained momentum to turn the situation around.

Representative Han Dong-hoon criticized on social media that Lee Jae-myung and the Democratic Party of Korea's push for an outdoor rally is the worst reason for intimidating judges beyond self-reflection.

At the same time, he claimed that CEO Lee would face a heavier sentence in the first trial of perjury teacher charges on the 25th.

Last year, when the representative Lee's arrest agreement was passed by the National Assembly, it was already included, so even if the judiciary decides to arrest him in court, it is not necessary to obtain separate legislative consent.

To our reporters, the ruling is confirmed quickly, and Lee added that he will not be able to run in the next presidential election, and even if he becomes president, he will lose his position, so he will not change by force.

Within the ruling party, there were also voices calling for Lee to resign as the party leader.

Rep. Kim Ki-hyun wrote on social media that the party's shrineization for bulletproofness and the abuse of the National Assembly as a means of intimidation by the judiciary would have been a reason for aggravating sentencing.

Within the party, the so-called "preventing eating and running" law is also being pushed to punish judges for intimidation and to preserve campaign funds to be recovered before they are confirmed for violating election laws.

The ruling party believes that President Yoon is expected to exercise his right to demand reconsideration, or veto, ahead of the third re-vote of the Kim Gun-hee independent counsel law, which will also give him the momentum to maintain a unified confrontation.

However, apart from the representative Lee's trial, suspicions about President Yoon and his wife's involvement in the nomination are still growing due to the revelations of Myung Tae-kyun and Rep. Lee Joon-seok of the New Reform Party.

CEO Han Dong-hoon said, "I am well aware that the reflective profits of Lee's conviction alone cannot win public sentiment," and emphasized that although it is still insufficient, it is on the way to change and reform and will continue to do so.
