Seventy lawmakers from the Democratic Party of Korea have proposed a resolution calling for the government to stop intervening in the war in Ukraine, including support for weapons of destruction.

Opposition lawmakers, including supreme council member Lee Eon-joo, held a press conference at the National Assembly and explained the background of the motion, saying that it is the constitutional responsibility of the South Korean government and the National Assembly to protect the lives, safety and property of the people.

He then pointed out that the Russia-Ukraine war is at a crossroads into international warfare beyond the two countries, and that if Ukraine is provided with weapons, it could quickly lead to a proxy war between the two Koreas.
