Sejong Institute of Science and Technology Seminar "Solving Traffic jams and Nuclear War at the same time as a futuristic underground city."
Sejong University's Sejong Institute of Science and Technology (SAIST) emphasized the need for an Underground City of Tomorrow (UCOT) in preparation for traffic jams and nuclear war at a seminar held today (29th).

Joo Myung-gun, honorary chairman of Sejong University, said in a keynote speech at the seminar held at the Ocean AI Center, "Nuclear war inevitably leads to mutual confirmation destruction (MAD), so to prevent it, we need to build a futuristic underground city (UCOT)."

UCOT is a futuristic underground city that can be used as an air defense shelter to accommodate 3.74 million people in case of emergency, although it is usually used as a shopping and various cultural activities space.

In particular, through this, traffic congestion in the metropolitan area and the threat of nuclear war can be solved at the same time.

Traffic congestion in Seoul causes an economic loss of about 35 trillion won per year and reduces urban function. Building a 122km underground road and a future underground city along Gangbyeonbuk-ro, Olympic-daero, Jungnangcheon Stream and Tancheon Stream can solve this and prevent nuclear war.

Unlike conventional air raid shelters, UCOT can be used as shopping malls and plazas in normal times, so it generates about 42 trillion won from the sale of shopping malls and dredging soil
Honorary Chairman Joo explained that even if the construction cost of 28 trillion won is covered, surplus income of 14 trillion won can be secured.
