Cold air as high as minus 30 degrees Celsius descends from the northwest.
This time, it is heading west of the Korean Peninsula, where cold air passes through the West Sea and develops clouds, spraying snow and rain in the western region today.
[Kim Young-joon / Meteorological Agency forecaster: Small-scale low pressure is expected to affect the development of warm sea levels and upper atmospheric pressure troughs....]
Rain or snow will begin to fall from the west coast this morning and expand to the west inland in the afternoon, and snow areas will gradually increase.
It is expected to fall up to 7cm in Chungcheong and Jeonbuk inland where snow is concentrated, 5cm in southern Gyeonggi Province, and 1cm in Seoul.
The snow will stop in the inland by evening, but Jeju Island and Ulleungdo Island are expected to continue until tomorrow and build up to 10 to 15cm.
The cold, which had been slowed down for a while due to the influence of the cold air, also strengthens again.
The morning temperature in Seoul will drop to minus 2 degrees Celsius today and minus 4 degrees Celsius tomorrow, the weekend, and will be lower than usual.
In particular, as winds strengthen over the weekend, the central region's wind chill is expected to drop significantly to around minus 10 degrees Celsius.
[Woo Jin-gyu / Information Officer of the Korea Meteorological Administration: The degree of cold air coming down is not a strong force compared to the average year, but the temperature felt is low because it involves strong winds....]
The upper cold air is expected to fall further over the weekend, with another round of snow around the west coast on Sunday.
